Jeff Daly, President of Daly Racing, LLC announced today, that they will be teaming once again with driver B.J. Mackey and long time sponsor Horton Homes, Inc. for the up coming Pabst Blue Ribbon "100" NASCAR Goody's Dash Touring Series race being held this weekend, Saturday, May 12, 2001, at the famed Darlington International Speedway located in Darlington, S.C. Daly also announced that a renewed sponsorship deal with long time associate Horton Homes, Inc. will extend through the May 24, 2001 race at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Daly states, "We are extremely please and excited to announce our continued association with Horton Homes, Inc. "With B.J. (Mackey) behind the wheel of the #84 Horton Homes Pontiac, we are confident of a great run at these up coming events." "B.J. is currently 3rd in the Points Standings and we want to give him an honest opportunity to run for the Championship this year," continued Daly.
Daly also stated, "We are also working on additional sponsorship associations that will insure our ability to run competitively for the remainder of the 2001 season and set forth a solid baseline for subsequent racing seasons." "Our season started a little rock this year," continued Daly. "Unfortunate circumstances precluded our success in solidifying a sponsorship deal at the beginning of the season. Things have improved immensely and I feel we are back on track."
From his shop in Rock Hill, S.C, B.J. Mackey was elated to hear the good news. Stated Mackey, "This is really great news. When Jeff gave me the call and told me about Horton being back on board, I literally jumped for joy." We have a great team and a super relationship with Daly Racing and Horton Homes and I had hoped that we could continue with our successes through the 2001 season. This is just great news!" "We have a ton of work to do" stated Mackey, "But we will be ready come race day!"
Mackey has a 5th place finish in the opening 2001 season race at Daytona International Speedway and a 3rd place finish at Orange County Speedway. Mackey had a strong season in 2000 winning three events and posting two new track qualifying records, one at Bristol Motor Speedway and one at Coastal Plains Raceway.
Jeff Daly stated, "We have a tremendous team with a proven ability to win races. Through our association with Horton Homes, Inc. we will once again field a championship quality season. We are also confident that we will shortly be announcing additional sponsorship association that will insure the appearance of Daly Racing, LLC and B.J. Mackey at the remaining 2001 NASCAR Goody's Dash Touring Series season events."
