Charity autions continues to grow at Grandview

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 1, 2000 . . . Kenny Brightbill, one of the top dirt track modified racers in the sport, will have a side panel from one of his race cars there. And Len Sammons, promoter of the Pennzoil Motorsports Show, has offered an opportunity to be a judge for the U.S. Tobacco Ms. Motorsports Pageant. There will be a Steve Grissom TrackFone Winston Cup uniform and an Andy Belmont ARCA AmericaOnLine driving uniform. And there will be so many other items available at the Stacy Miller Charity Auction at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September 9, 3 p.m. Stacy is a lovely young lady, a fan of auto racing at Grandview Speedway, who was seriously injured as a result of someone setting off a mortar shell firecracker at a Fourth of July celebration. She has been declared legally blind, has some slight brain damage and is undergoing surgery to have her face rebuilt. She will not work again and has a two year old son to raise. There is no insurance. On Saturday, September 9, at Grandview Speedway, before the running of the T.H. Properties Freedom 76 an auction of auto racing items, plus some other goodies, will be held. Track announcer Ernie Saxton will serve as auctioneer and throw in some driver interviews and there will be some autograph sessions. "The idea is to raise as much money as possible to help Stacy Miller. We have a lot of great stuff to auction off. There is an Ernie Irvan autographed photo plaque. A hood from a Ward Burton Winston Cup car. There will be original editions of Open Wheel and Stock Car Racing Magazines. A Karcher Pressure Washer will be available. And there are loads of other items including some great photographs of many local and national racers. There will be something for everyone. It will all go to the highest bidders. And all the money raised goes to Stacy Miller," said Saxton. The auction will be part of pre-race activities for the T.H. Properties Freedom 76 that will also include fingerprinting for the kids, plus face painting, moon bounce and clowns. Many of the areas top dirt track racers will be at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September 9, to participate in the T.H.Properties Freedom 76. The classic modified event will pay $20,000 plus to the winner. For those who can not make the auction, bids will be accepted over the telephone at 215.752.7797 or 215.752.2392. Bobby Brown, a Legends car racer from South Jersey, has bid $500 for the Steve Grissom driving uniform. Someone will have to top that bid to get that uniform.
