Goodyear is the sole tire provider for this series and the Goodyear advantage was obvious in qualifying. For the fourth time in as many races, a driver set a track record for the Series during time trials. That driver was Mike Olsen, the defending Series champion. He averaged 94.392 mph on his qualifying run.

Kobyluck averaged 58.744 mph on his way to the win in a competitive race, which included six lead changes. The victory allowed him to take the Series points lead for the first time in his career.

Penfold was second after starting 17th. He finished .4 of a second behind the winner. Martin Truex Jr. finished third, Tracy Gordon was fourth and Dale Shaw came home fifth.
