LOUDON, N.H. - The young guns of the Busch North Series, NASCAR Touring took center stage as Brian Hoar set a track record to claim the Bud Pole position in qualifying for Saturday's New England 125 at New Hampshire International Speedway. Hoar, of Williston, Vt., toured the 1.058 mile oval in 29.892 seconds at a speed of 127.414 miles per hour to edge Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Mass. for the top spot. Hoar, 30, and MacDonald, 22, were first and third in the 2001 Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year standings. It marked Hoar's second Bud Pole of 2002, but MacDonald's first front-row qualifying effort.

Three-time Busch North Series champion Jamie Aube was third fastest. Among the drivers battling for the 2002 Busch North title, Matt Kobyluck qualified fourth, point leader Kelly Moore fifth, Brad Leighton seventh, and Andy Santerre 20th. Leighton owns a two-race winning streak at NHIS, dating back to 2001, and is the all-time leader with six wins at the track.

Martin Truex Jr., seeking to tie Kelly Moore's 14-year-old record of five Bud Poles in a row, was eleventh fastest.
