Scarborough, ME (9/12/99) Kelly Moore, driver of the LesCare Kitchens Pontiac, finished 7th Saturday evening during the NASCAR Busch North Series 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME. This marked the second and final visit to the 1/3-mile oval, a track that Moore and his team consider them "home track". Moore qualified his Pontiac Grand Prix fifteenth overall during the first round of qualifying, and was disappointed with his earlier practice session and the qualifying run. "We were really expecting much better results overall," Moore explained. "We had a really good test here recently and we ran much better than we did today."

As the race progressed, Moore moved swiftly up through the 30-car field, dodging the trouble that plagued him at Beech Ridge earlier this season. "Our game plan was to stay out of trouble, get a good pit stop and then contend for the win," Moore said. The LesCare Team did make its only pit stop on lap 111, taking on right side tires and making a chassis adjustment. Moore worked his way back up through the field, but simply ran out of laps to contend for the win. "We sure passed a lot of cars tonight, so we definitely earned this top-10," Moore said. "The guys in the pits did a good job for us and I really thought we'd come out of here with a top-3 or a win. Our car was that good in the later part of the race, we just needed more laps."

Moore was catching the leaders as the laps expired, but he could only get within eight car lengths of the lead pack. "We had the leaders in sight, but we just didn't have the time to reel them in." said Moore. "We really needed that pit stop around lap 75 or 80, that would've given us a much better shot at the win. But we'll take a much earned top-10 and look forward to our next event at NHIS."

With only two events left in the 1999 Busch North Series season, the series heads back to New Hampshire International Speedway for the final time this season. In early August, Moore looked to be a strong contender for the win at NHIS, but instead ended up in the turn one wall after being punted by a lapped car entering the first turn. "Our team is looking for a win at NHIS, we've had two of the best handling cars I've ever had there the past two visits, and I expect to be knocking on the door again." Moore explained.

Qualifying for the Busch North Series is scheduled for Thursday afternoon. The field will take the green flag on Saturday afternoon following the Featherlite Modified Tour event. TNN will once again be televising the event live, with the Busch North Series race set to start at approximately 2:30pm.
