Penfold Team looks forward to Season Finale at Lime Rock Park

Bill Penfold and the Penfold Motorsports team visited Lime Rock Park last week to practice with the teams Monte Carlo. The team is hoping to have a top ten finish in the season finale on October 17th at the famous road course, and with a little luck, move back into the top ten in points at the end of the race.

Bill spent most of the season in the top ten, even as high as sixth at mid season. Bad luck finally caught up with the driver from Yarmouth, Maine in the last few races of the season. In just the last two races he fell out of the top ten, down to 14th in points.

Penfold is still only 57 points from the top ten, but he must pass four good drivers to get there. The team remains very optimistic, as they have faced tough odds many times this season and still prevailed. The team is also due for some good luck.

Penfold has always enjoyed racing on the road courses. "They are a fun change of pace for me," said Penfold. "You really get to drive hard and have some fun."

Bill logged about 40 laps of track time while testing the Monte Carlo at Lime Rock.

"We didn't have good tires to test with, but we were still able to get car almost two seconds faster than we were last year," Penfold said after testing. "If we had fresh tires, we would have been even faster. I was able to get some valuable seat time and get a feel for the Monte Carlo on the road course."

Bill has enjoyed some good runs at Lime Rock, having raced in the top ten there on several occasions. He rolled his car over during one race there, but that didn't slow him down. After making repairs, he returned to the track to finish the event.

At the series only other visit to a road course, at Watkins Glen last August, Bill finished 11th. Look for Penfold to have a great race in the series finale.
