Dave Dion, Dale Quarterley, Ryan Seaman Win Busch North Series Seasonal Awards; Will Share Honors With Champion Andy Santerre at Awards Ceremony December 17

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (October 19, 2004) - With the conclusion of the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series racing season for 2004, Dave Dion, Dale Quarterley, and Ryan Seaman have officially been named as winners of the season-long sponsored awards programs. Dion captured the Busch Pole Award championship, Quarterley topped both the POWERade Power Move of the Race and Featherlite Most Improved Driver programs, and Seaman was the runaway winner of the Auto Meter Rookie of the Year Award. All will be honored, along with Busch North Series champion Andy Santerre, at the Busch North Series Awards Ceremony on Friday night, December 17, at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Uncasville, Conn.

Dion won the Busch Pole at three of the first six races of the year and held on to win the title over Mike Johnson, the only other multiple pole winner of the season. The Hudson, N.H. veteran and 1996 Busch North Series champion raised his career total to 22 Busch Poles, second on the all-time list to Kelly Moore's record 47. Despite missing two races, Dion was 17th in the final Busch North Series standings.

Quarterley dominated both award categories which reward performance improvement. In the POWERade Power Move of the Race, which measures positions gained from start to finsh at each individual race, he was tops on four occasions while no other driver won the award more than once. The Featherlite Most Improved Driver Award tracks places gained from race to race, and in that category Quarterley scored three times to edge Kelly Moore, Ryan Moore, Matt Kobyluck, and Jamie Aube, each of whom picked up the award twice. On two occasions, Quarterley captured the POWERade and Featherlite awards in the same race. His ability to rebound from adversity was a key element in Quarterley's career-best third place finish in the Busch North Series point standings.

Ryan Seaman was the top Auto Meter Rookie of the Year candidate in ten races, and capped his impressive rookie season with his first top-ten race finish in the MBNA America 150 at Dover International Speedway, giving him 16th place in the final standings. Charles Lewandoski topped the rookie contenders on two occasions and Doug Krpata once, but both ran limited schedules to preserve their Auto Meter award eligibility for future seasons.

In addition to series champion Santerre and the sponsored award winners, the most improved driver, most popular driver, and sportsmanship awards will be presented at the December 17 ceremony, and the top 20 drivers and owners will share in the Busch North Series point fund. The top 20 drivers with their season point totals are listed below.
