Big Diamond drivers to compete for the Valvoline Cup.
MINERSVILLE, Pa (April 12, 2002) - Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, PA, will host a Valvoline Cup promotion on Sunday, April 28, to help their drivers get enrolled for competition in the exciting Valvoline Cup grassroots racing national points championship for the 2002 racing season. The stock car racing card will start at 4PM and feature Modifieds, Sportsman-Modifieds, and Roadrunners as part of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge.
Through the Valvoline Cup, Big Diamond Raceway's NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge drivers in all divisions will compete against thousands of other drivers from across the United States who race in similar racing classes at other tracks. Valvoline Cup classes that correspond to the Big Diamond Raceway classes include Modified (Modifieds), Dirt Stock (Sportsman-Modifieds) and Entry Level (Roadrunners).
"This is a program for racers, no matter what series they run, no matter where they run," said Valvoline Sr. Vice President James V. Rocco. "The Valvoline Cup was created to spotlight grassroots racing and bring excitement and recognition to racers who might not appear on TV every weekend. These racers are the bedrock of American motorsports and Valvoline is proud to support them."
The Valvoline Cup is the latest evidence of Valvoline's support of grassroots racers. Valvoline is a contingency sponsor in NHRA drag racing, and for the past six years has been the number one choice of motor oil by NHRA Sportsman-class racers at NHRA Pro events. For the past 17 years, Valvoline has sponsored the national championships for the Sports Car Club of America -- the SCCA Valvoline Runoffs®.
The launch of the Valvoline Cup includes special Valvoline Night promotions at hundreds of tracks across the United States. Each of the more than 300 tracks will have the opportunity to host a Valvoline Night promotion and offer their drivers the chance to sign up for the Valvoline Cup.
Drivers will earn points toward the Valvoline Cup championship for all races that they compete in. Drivers can call toll-free 1-877-302-0290, e-mail email@example.com or visit www.valvolinecup.com for more information.
