Big Diamond Stevenson Memorial returns to Twin-20 format.

Minersville, PA - June 25 - The Georgie Stevenson Memorial at Big Diamond Raceway on July 5 will feature a Twin-20 format for the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Modifieds and Fireworks.

The Modifieds will be joined on the card by the NASCAR Sportsman and Roadrunners yielding three 20-lap feature events and a single 15-lap feature following qualifying events. And, if the fireworks on the track are not enough, Big Diamond officials have signed contracts for an awesome fireworks display that will light the July 5 skies over the track in celebration of Independence Day as part of the Stevenson Memorial.

This event was originally planned to be a 50-lap feature on the schedule but weather has led to this being changed. The double feature for the Modifieds will assist drivers competing at Big Diamond to achieve the minimum point race requirement to contend for the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge regional championship. The high number of rainouts already during the 2002 season has taken its toll on the 2002 schedule and hopefully the weather will be more favorable for the rest of the season.

Defending track champion, Keith Hoffman currently leads the Big Diamond Modified point standings but he's feeling the pressure from Duane Howard, Meme DeSantis, Terry Meitzler and Craig Von Dohren. Hoffman took his first win of the season last week at Big Diamond and appears to be jelling with his new Johnny Ray #1 Racing Team. Keith's brother, Dave has been giving attention to the Abbi Electric/C&M Machine sponsored Troyer car recently and the team hopes last week's performance is an indication of things to come. The current Modified standings follow:
