The Super Dirt Series - Down, Dirty & Wild 100 at Big Diamond Raceway.

LANGHORNE, PA MARCH 9, 2003 . . . . . . The Super DIRT Series Big Block Modifieds will be making their first ever appearance at the Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, PA on Wednesday night, June 18. Advance Auto Parts will present the DOWN, DIRTY & WILD 100 Lap Championship on the 3/8th mile Big Diamond oval. Race time is set for 7:30 PM and will include time trials, a series of heat race qualifiers, a consolation and, The DOWN, DIRTY & WILD 100 Lap Championship.

For the Big Block Modifieds, this will be their first ever run on the "enlarged" Big Diamond Raceway. There have been five previous Big Block Modified events at Big Diamond, but that was in the early 80's when Big Diamond was just 1/3rd mile in distance. The five prior big block events were all sanctioned by MODCAR. Victories went to Bob Toreky (2 wins in 1981) along with Gary Gollub, Roger Laureno and Dave Schoffstall who won big block modified features in 1982.

That was over twenty years ago and now, Big Diamond has new look! In many ways, this will be an all time first visit for the big block modifieds as they challenge the "Oval of the Diamond". The Big Diamond Raceway is just right for the Big Block Modifieds. Long straight-aways with sweeping turns offering plenty of width around the entire oval. Bumping is "not" necessary to make a pass on this track as multiple grooves provide plenty of passing on a weekly basis. Hold on to your seats at this as the drivers are sure to get Down, Dirty and Wild with $6,000 going to the winner.

The DOWN, DIRTY & WILD 100 is a full point race on the Super DIRT Series schedule and all the top contenders will be in the line-up. Kenny Tremont, Tim McCreadie, Brett Hearn and Billy Decker are spotlight favorites along with local top guns Kenny Brightbill, Billy Pauch, Jimmy Horton, MeMe DeSantis and Jeff Strunk. The two winningest drivers in Big Diamond history will also be in the hunt. Craig VonDohren owns forty-six victories and Duane Howard is on top of the list with forty-seven career wins. Who knows. . . maybe Roger Laureno will return to defend his big block modified win at Big Diamond in 1982?

The Super DIRT Series event is sponsored by Advance Auto Parts and will be presented through the dual promotional efforts of track owners Fritz and Joanne Roehrig along with Bob Miller, co-promoter of the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series as well as the COMDIAL BIG SHOW Series at both Grandview and the Bridgeport Speedway.

Big Diamond Raceway is a 0.384 mile, banked clay oval located off Forestville Road near Minersville, PA in Schuylkill County, between the villages of Forestville and Branchdale.
