RAIN STOPS BIG DIAMOND ACTION, TWO DATES REMAIN ON 2000 SCHEDULE
Minersville, PA (Aug. 18) - Steady rain throughout most of the day and the evening on Friday forced officials at Big Diamond Raceway to cancel the AMSOil Night of racing. The event was scheduled to include the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Modifieds, the EXIDE ShorTrack Sportsman by NASCAR and the NASCAR Accel Roadrunners on the evening which was also to be Racing With Jesus Ministries Family Night. Racing action resumes at Big Diamond Raceway on Friday night, August 25, for Kenworth/Cummins Night. Kenworth and Cummins have teamed up with Motor Truck Equipment Company to make the Kenworth/Cummins NASCAR Dual Track Championship Series possible and, as part of that sponsorship, bring the NASCAR WRS Modifieds to the Forestville oval for a special 50-lap main event. The 50-lap main will determine if Keith Hoffman of Whitehall, PA or defending track champion, Duane Howard of Oley, PA will be the 2000 NASCAR WRS Modified track champion. Hoffman, seeking his first Big Diamond track title, currently holds a 44-point lead over Howard, 2256 to 2212. In addition to this 50-lapper being the final Big Diamond Raceway point race of the season, it will act as a tune-up for the Post Digital Graphics/Rieck's Printing Coal Cracker 100 paying $10,000-to-win on September 1. The NASCAR Exide ShorTrack Series Sportsman and Accel Roadrunners will also be on the Kenworth/Cummins Night card for their final point races for the year. Entries are being accepted now for the 21st Annual Coal Cracker National 100 by Rieck's Printing and Post Digital Graphics. The entry fee, which includes the driver's pit pass, is $65 for NASCAR Member drivers and $80 for nonmembers. But drivers can enjoy a discount of $10 off both of these rates ($55 and $70 respectively) if they submit their entries by Sunday, August 27th. Lap sponsorships are still being accepted for the 2000 Rieck's Printing/Post Digital Graphics Coal Cracker 100 for Modifieds on Friday night, September 1. Laps cost $10 each and can be purchased by contacting Mary Bagley on Friday nights in the officials' tower, by calling 610-659- 1869 or via the Internet at email@example.com.
