Big Diamond Raceway was forced to delay their season opener one week to April 8, 2001. Although speedway track crews works all morning the track took too much water over the past week to even permit heavy equipment to attempt to run in the inside half of the track.

The April 1 program was canceled at 1:30 PM, one half hour prior to the starting time following a drivers meeting during which drivers and track officials took a look at and walked the track to examine conditions together.

46 NASCAR weekly Racing Series Modifieds were on hand along with 29 NASCAR ShorTrack Sportsman and 15 NASCAR Roadrunners.

Big Diamond Raceway will now open the season on Sunday afternoon, April 8, at 2 o'clock. Track gates will open at 11 AM. The NASCAR WRS Modifieds, NASCAR ShorTrack Sportsman and NASCAR Roadrunners will be in action.
