Big Diamond Racing falls to rain on May 2.
Minersville, PA - May 2 - Thunderstorms with heavy rain hit Big Diamond Raceway by mid-afternoon, followed by showers, forcing the speedway to cancel their NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series racing card. Racing will return to Big Diamond next Friday night, May 9, with the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds, NASCAR Roadrunners and KARS Doorways Unlimited 358 Sprints at 8 PM.
The KARS 358 Sprints are preparing for their second visit of the year to Big Diamond Raceway on Friday with an added incentive as Duval Dressler has announced that the feature event will pay $1,000-to-win. The KARS Sprints will be joining Big Diamond Raceway's NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds and Roadrunners on the racing card that evening which gets underway with the first qualifying race at 8 PM.
The NASCAR Sportsman Modifieds will return to Big Diamond Raceway on May 16, along with the Modifieds and Roadrunners, as part United Disabilities Services Night. UDS of Lancaster, PA and two-time Daytona ARCA winner, Bobby Gerhart of Lebanon, PA will kickoff a partnership to assist UDS with marketing and fundraising opportunities.
United Disabilities Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to Advancing the Independence of People with Disabilities. UDS will be handing out pledge forms for Track the Laps, a fundraiser developed by UDS and Bobby Gerhart Racing to raise money for people with disabilities. Fans can pledge a certain dollar amount per lap for the number of laps Bobby Gerhart completes at the ARCA RE/MAX Giant Food Stores 200 at Pocono Raceway on June 7, 2003.
Bobby Gerhart will be on hand for an autograph/meet and greet session and his #5 Bodycote Pontiac will be on display for race fans. United Disabilities Services New Life Assistance Dogs Program will also be featured and race fans will be treated to a personal service dog demonstration.
