Line-Up Handicapping Policy at Big Diamond.

Minersville, PA - May 20 - As a clarification to the handicapping procedure used at Big Diamond Raceway, the following statement has been issued:

A driver's starting position each week at Big Diamond Raceway is determined by the number of points accumulated by that driver over the previous four feature events at Big Diamond as compared to his fellow drivers. If a driver missed one of the last four events he is usually assigned 133 points for that event. If he missed a second event in the last four races he is assigned 153 points for that miss. If he missed three of the most recent four events he is assigned 173 for that third miss. If he did not compete in any of the most recent four events, he starts at the rear as a newcomer.

There are very few exceptions to this rule because we have structured it to be as fair as possible to the driver missing an event, for reasons other than to race at another speedway, as possible. One we have encountered this season and that is a driver being called to military duty or reserve duty. In that case the driver is assigned his point average for each of the events missed.

One other clarification is that any driver missing an event to compete at another speedway on the same race night will be assigned 233, 253 and 273 for one, two and three races missed respectively for each event he competes at another speedway on a Big Diamond race night which is held. (There is no penalty for running elsewhere on a night when racing at Big Diamond is canceled or is not scheduled.)

The first Big Diamond Raceway Open Practice Night is scheduled for tomorrow night, May 21, at 7:30. No membership is required and any and all divisions of racing cars will be permitted to participate in this open practice with pit admission set at $15.00 to cover insurance.

This Friday night, May 24, Big Diamond will open the stands at 6PM for an 8PM start. Action will feature the Modifieds in the Spring 50 paying $4000-to-win, the Sportsman Stocks and the Roadrunners in NASCAR Weekly Racing Series action presented by Dodge.
