OLSEN LEADS A LAP, WINS A RACE AT NHIS
LOUDON, N.H. (July 15, 2006) -- Mike Olsen is a NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series veteran and he knows which lap is important. So he won the New England 125 by leading only one lap, the last one.
Olsen passed Sean Caisse on the final circuit of the race on the one-mile oval at New Hampshire International Speedway and beat Caisse back to the finish by less than a quarter of a second to win a thriller. The race was held in front of a Nextel Cup Series crowd.
Caisse finished second, followed by Jerry Marquis, Tracy Gordon and Brian Hoar. Caisse led twice during the race for 85 laps. He has led every race this season and has led the most laps four times.
Olsen averaged 85.428 mph over the 125-lap distance. Hoar won the Busch Pole Award with a lap averaging 123.433 mph in qualifying.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Grand National Division, which includes the AutoZone West Series.
