BNSracing.com Becomes EastSeries.com, Continues Long Track Record Of NASCAR Busch East Series Coverage
Waldorf, Md. (July 9, 2006) - BNSracing.com, the website that has covered NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series (formerly the Busch North Series) racing since 1996, is changing its name to EastSeries.com to reflect the series' name change.
The website was started in 1996 by Alan Claffie to give online exposure to the regional racing series, and has become the only site to provide in-depth, on-site coverage to the series including the trackside posting of practice, qualifying, and race results as soon as those results are made available by NASCAR.
Updated points standings, driver profiles, event photography, and feature articles are among the site's other features that will continue under its new name. News releases from teams, tracks, and NASCAR will also be posted to the site as it's updated on a daily basis.
"When I started the site, I had no idea that I'd still be doing it ten years later, much less providing the amount of coverage we do and become the go-to site for fans of the series before and after every race," said Claffie, who runs the site with his wife Kate. "But through the site we've gotten to know so many great people involved in Busch East and have been able to bring their stories to fans of the series over the years.
"The series is undergoing a number of changes, and just like the participants have to adapt to the series' new name and other developments, we who cover the sport have to change as well. This isn't unprecedented; we had to change from BGNN.com to BNSracing.com when the series stopped being called 'Busch Grand National North' and became the 'Busch North Series.'"
BNSracing.com has been at the track for three of the most recent significant developments in the NASCAR series: the first race run under the Grand National Division banner (Phoenix International Raceway, February 2003), the first Toyota NASCAR All-Star Showdown (Irwindale Speedway, November 2003), and the first race run under the name Busch East (Greenville-Pickens Speedway, June 2006).
The Claffies will introduce the new name of their site by displaying it on the rear quarter panels of Busch East Series veteran Kip Stockwell's No. 16 Chevrolet during the running of the July 14th New England 125 at New Hampshire International Speedway.
"It's going to be a thrill for us to see Kip carrying our new name on the track, and being able to cheer on 'our' car in one of the biggest Busch East Series races of the season," Claffie said. "Again, ten years ago I'd never think I'd have my site on the side of a race car at the track that means so much to the series. I can't wait to see it in action."
While the current www.BNSracing.com address will automatically redirect visitors to the new site, readers are encouraged to update their bookmarks and web links to the new www.EastSeries.com URL to ensure they don't miss out on all the news, photography, and stories coming from the NASCAR Busch East Series.
