COEBURN, VA (NOV. 19, 2002)- Lonesome Pine International Raceway promoters Larry and Gloria Barbare announced Nov. 19 that they have stepped away from their positions at the Coeburn, Va., track to pursue other opportunities.

The Barbares served at the track for one season. During that time, Lonesome Pine regained NASCAR sanctioning. The track also produced the 2002 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge Atlantic Region Champion, Wade Day, a first for the speedway. The couple has been involved in racing promotions since 1985, working both on a part-time and full-time basis. They were employed at Asheville Motor Speedway for five years, while at the same time running their own track (Riverside Speedway in S.C.). Prior to their positions at Lonesome Pine, they promoted the Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C., another NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge facility.
