LOCAL SUPPORT LEADS TO REALIZATION OF A DREAM FOR 19-YEAR-OLD RACER
Andy Seuss To Make NASCAR Modified Tour Debut at NHIS
HAMPSTEAD, NH (July 6, 2006) -- 19-Year-Old Andy Seuss grew up in the shadows of New Hampshire International Speedway. From the time that he was a child through his years of kart racing and journey to become both a winner and a champion in Modifieds, he has dreamed about racing there someday.
Now, with the help of some local sponsors, he will get the opportunity to do just that in the July 15th New England 100 at NHIS. It will be Seuss' NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour debut with the #70 Manchester Urology Associates machine and it has been a long time in the making.
"My earliest memory of New Hampshire is when my parents would pack up early on Sunday morning to go watch the Cup race and leave me at home," said Seuss. "I'd always go up to qualifying and that was big to me. The Modified race would usually be on that day, so I've pretty much watched all of the Modified races there since Cup has had a date there. I remember some of the best runs were watching Reggie Ruggiero. He was so good at bump-drafting."
NHIS has always been a big destination for neighbors of the Seuss family in Southern New Hampshire and when their area found out about Seuss racing there, the support has been nearly endless.
"New Hampshire is big to us, but we are big into racing. So you kind of lose sight of how big racing there is to everyone in the general public. We didn't really confirm our plans to go there until last week, but the rumors were flying around town before that. Everywhere I went people were telling me that they would be there cheering me on. It's so exciting. Hopefully, we can get them all in one section with white #70 T-Shirts on and we can put on a good show."
Seuss will be driving the #70 entry at NHIS. Manchester Urology Associates has stepped up to sponsor the team for the race in an effort to spread the word about men's health issues to the thousands of race fans at the track.
"It's a great opportunity for our team. We have a great sponsor for the race in Manchester Urology Associates. There are going to be some hometown people there to watch and New Hampshire is such a showplace for racing, that it will just be great. It will be a dream come true for me to be a part of a race there.
"Manchester Urology Associates are leading the pack in men's health. This is a way to get their name out there to auto racing fans and to deliver a message as well. They are helping me out with my dream of going to New Hampshire and hopefully we can make more men aware of what they are doing too."
Also supporting the #70 team at NHIS will be the family business, Rockingham Boat, as well as Summit Signs and dozens of other supporters who assist the team both financially and morally.
Although Seuss will be a rookie at NHIS, he is quite accomplished in the Modified racing world. Earlier this season, he beat some of the best in the business by winning the Florida Speedweeks championship and he is also a winner in the True Value Modified Racing Series. Seuss is currently ranked seventh in the TVMRS standings.
"I'm ready to race at NHIS," said Seuss. "I wanted to get out there to test, but it got rained out. I'm looking forward to racing with the top dogs of Modifieds out there like I have at New Smyrna, the North vs. South Shootout and in a few NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour races. I've raced with a lot of those guys, so hopefully I can get some respect in the draft."
The New England 100 for the NASCAR Whelen Tour is set to see its green flag at 1:10pm on Saturday, July 15th at New Hampshire International Speedway.
