Robby Gordon Watkins Glen Nationwide Preview
Charlotte, NC (August 6, 2008) -- Robby Gordon will make his first NASCAR Nationwide Series start of the 2009 season this weekend in the No. 55 Camry, which will display a flashy new look. As Gordon attempts to sweep both races this weekend, the team welcomes the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas as the primary sponsor of Gordon's Nationwide effort to promote their new and improved concert arena, The Rogue Joint.
The Rouge Joint inherited its name from the legendary original Hard Rock venue and was designed by the renowned Montreal-based architectural design firm Sceno Plus. This upgraded facility has a seating capacity of 4,000 and will carry on the up-close and authentic feel of the original venue with the furthest seat in the house only 155 feet from the stage. The Rogue Joint is a multipurpose facility featuring a state-of-the-art sound system, an innovative lighting system, and 38 flat screens throughout the venue to guarantee the ultimate viewing experience and is part of the widely-publicized $750 million dollar expansion of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas slated for completion later this year.
With an average starting position of 4.0 and an average finish of 13 at The Glen in the Nationwide Series, Gordon and his No. 55 hope for continued success at a place where Gordon is no stranger to Victory Lane.
TV and Radio Times -- Qualifying is set for August 8 at 10 a.m. (ET) on ESPN2, MRN, and Sirius Satellite radio. The 82 laps of racing action begins on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ABC, MRN and Sirius Satellite radio.
The Glen -- "The Glen is such a great track to race on, and I always look forward to coming here. I'm excited that the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is onboard as the primary sponsor this weekend. I have some unfinished business here in the Nationwide Series. If all goes according to plan, it should be a very good weekend for our team and sponsors. It would be exciting to drive the No. 55 Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas Camry into Victory Lane on Saturday in their first race as our primary sponsor," commented Gordon.
