* Brad Sweet making his NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) debut in the No. 11 Great Clips Toyota... Kasey Kahne Racing driver and USAC open-wheel star, Brad Sweet, will make his NNS debut this weekend at Gateway International Raceway in the No. 11 Great Clips Camry. The 24-year-old has made eight NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) starts in the No. 90 Great Clips Toyota Tundra, with one top-10 finish to his credit. Sweet has claimed such prestigious USAC wins as the Belleville Midget Nationals, the Knoxville Midget Nationals and both the Sprint Car and Midget "Four Crown Nationals" at Eldora Speedway. He currently sits eighth in the USAC National Midget Championship point standings.
* Following in Kasey Kahne's footsteps... Sweet is thrilled to be following in the footsteps of owner and mentor, Kasey Kahne. From 2003-2005, Kahne drove the Great Clips entry in the NNS and in 2010, reunited with organization to make eight NNS starts in the No. 38 Great Clips Camry. He will even be working with the same crew chief, Stewart Cooper, Kahne works with in the Nationwide Series. Sweet, who is no stranger to the Great Clips Racing family, will take the next step in his racing career with the guidance and support of his long-time mentor.
Sweet on his NNS debut
"I am very excited to be making my Nationwide Series debut with Great Clips. I've talked a lot with Kasey [Kahne] about what to expect from the Nationwide cars and the differences between their handling and the truck's. It's been really helpful to have him to bounce ideas off of since he made the same transition from open-wheel to stock cars not too long ago. I want to thank everyone at Great Clips, Braun Racing and Turner Motorsports for giving me the opportunity to take the next step in my racing career."
The No. 11 Great Clips team will be hitting the track with chassis #BR018 this weekend at Gateway International Raceway. This chassis last saw track action at O'Reilly Raceway Park (July, 2010) and New Hampshire Motor Speedway (June, 2010).
