PATRICK SHELTRA TO PILOT THE NO. 09 FORD FUSION FOR RAB RACING AT TALLADEGA
Concord, NC (4-20-2010) -- ARCA Racing Series (ARS) presented by RE/MAX and Menards veteran driver Patrick Sheltra will pilot RAB Racing's No. 09 Ford Fusion in Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) Aaron's 312 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.
Sheltra, currently third in the ARCA Racing Series championship point standings will make his fifth career NNS start and first at Talladega on Saturday afternoon. His previous best finish in the NASCAR Nationwide Series occurred in 2008 when he piloted a joint entry between Jay Robinson Racing and Sheltra Motorsports to a 24th place effort at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway.
The Indiantown, Florida native will compete in the Talladega ARCA 250 on Friday, April 23 driving his family owned No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger before turning his full attention over to RAB Racing for the eighth race on the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule.
The 23-year old Sheltra has three career starts at the 2.66-mile superspeedway in the ARCA Racing Series including a fifth place performance in 2008. Currently, after four races, Sheltra enters this weekend's festivities at Talladega with four consecutive top-10 finishes.
"I've always had the utmost respect for Robby Benton and his organization in the NASCAR Nationwide Series," sounded Sheltra."I'm honored and humbled at the opportunity to drive for the team at Talladega. Our expectations are high, but there is no doubt that with a little luck we can accomplish our mission."
Sheltra continued, "We feel that we'll have a car good enough to finish in the top-10 Saturday afternoon but our main objective is to keep the car intact and keep the RAB Racing team solidly inside the top-30 in the owner's standings. Nonetheless, we want to go to Talladega and prove that this team can run up front and contend for wins."
Ben Gable will continue to call the shots as crew chief for RAB Racing with Benton, serving as Sheltra's spotter for the 117-lap event.
