Sadler feels ill, makes an early exit at Texas

Clint Bowyer subs for an ailing Elliott Sadler.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Elliott Sadler was sidelined early in Saturday’s Nationwide Series race due to a stomach virus.

Sadler completed nine laps in the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota and was running 37th prior to Clint Bowyer relieving him in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge Nationwide Series race. Bowyer qualified the car 11th while Sadler was in the Texas Motor Speedway Infield Care Center.

Sadler, who started from the rear of the field after missing the drivers' meeting, apologized to the team before climbing from the car.

Sadler entered the weekend fourth in the point standings. Sadler announced on Friday he was moving to Roush Fenway Racing in 2015.
