GETTING IT DONE: 5-HOUR ENERGY TO BACK STEVE WALLACE IN FULL 2010 NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES
BRISTOL, TN (August 21, 2009)--Officials of Rusty Wallace Racing (RWR) and Living Essentials (LE)--the makers of 5-Hour Energy--announced today that beginning in 2010, 5-Hour Energy will serve as primary sponsor of third-generation driver, Steve Wallace and RWR's No. 66 car, in the full 35-race NASCAR Nationwide Series.
Steve, son of NASCAR legend and ESPN personality, Rusty Wallace, has been one of the hottest Nationwide Series drivers as of late. The younger Wallace has climbed from a 42nd-place ranking in the driver standings following the season's first race at Daytona, to his current career-best ranking of sixth. He enters this weekend's event at Bristol Motor Speedway with top-ten finishes in both of the two previous events at the track.
Noted Steve Wallace, "I'm extremely excited about this announcement. I'm a huge fan of 5-Hour Energy's products; they really help me get it done, both on and off the track. When I said in their commercials, "I use it, I love it," it couldn't have been more true of a statement.
"Our team has been improving a lot lately and I believe that I've been improving a lot as a driver. I feel like we're right on the verge of winning one of these races and having next year's sponsorship put together in August allows our team to start preparing for 2010 a lot earlier.
"I'm really looking forward to putting the 5-Hour Energy car up front a lot next year and to helping spread the word about the focus and alertness that 5-Hour Energy can provide."
The announcement marks the expansion of a program which has grown from an original four-race commitment in 2008, to 27 races between RWR's No. 62 and No. 66 cars for 2009 and now, to the full schedule with Steve Wallace behind the wheel.
Stated LE Vice President, Rise Meguiar, "We're very pleased about partnering with Rusty Wallace Racing and Steve Wallace for the full season. We feel as if we have one of the hottest brands on the market today and Steve is certainly one of the hottest young drivers in the Nationwide Series, so this partnership just makes a lot of sense for us.
"Everyone in RWR's sponsorship and activation groups have gone out of their way to help us leverage this program from a business perspective and we're really looking forward to growing together into the future."
RWR's namesake, former NASCAR Cup Series champion and ESPN analyst, Rusty Wallace, was extremely pleased with the announcement as well.
Said Wallace, "I'd like to thank everyone at 5 Hour Energy for their support of our team. They've been an outstanding partner for us over the last couple of years and I couldn't be more excited about expanding our partnership in 2010.
"Our entire staff has worked extremely hard to help 5 Hour Energy reach their business objectives and hopefully, we've done that so far. We're looking forward to continuing that and to putting the No. 66 5-Hour Energy car up front and in victory lane in 2010. We're getting closer and closer every day to making that happen."
