Ross Chastain to make NASCAR Nationwide debut at Charlotte
Ross Chastain will make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut with Viva Motorsports next weekend
Ross Chastain will be making the next leap in his career this Saturday when he straps into the No. 55 Watermelon.org Chevrolet for the History 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This will mark the first start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for the Alva, Florida driver. At the young age of 21, Chastain has already established himself as the racer to watch in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series where he has accumulated 5 top 5s, 12 top 10s, and 2 pole awards. Now Chastain looks to take on the next challenge with the help of Viva Motorsports.
"I want to thank Jamie Dick and everyone at Viva Motorsports for giving me this opportunity. I'm looking forward to working with Bill (Henderson) and the crew as I'll be leaning on them a lot," said Ross Chastain. "It's been a dream of mine as an 8th generation farmer to be able to drive an all Ag-based car. Watermelon.org and Helena Chemical Company made it possible."
"I couldn't be more excited to have Ross in the car this weekend," says Jamie Dick, owner of Viva Motorsports. "Ross and I have become good friends and we have been trying to work together for some time. Thanks to Watermelon.org and Helena Chemical Company, we finally have the opportunity to put Ross in one of our Chevy Camaros. I have no doubt that he will highlight the strengths of our team and make us proud with a solid finish."
Race Info: The History 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway will be held Saturday, May 24th with live coverage on ABC starting at 2:30pm ET with radio coverage on PRN/Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Channel 90 at 2:30pm ET.
