BUSCH RETURNS TO SITE OF FIRST CAREER NNS VICTORY
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (April 28, 2009) - It's safe to say that Kyle Busch can find something to like at practically any track he visits. But even the boy nicknamed "Rowdy" has a soft spot for Richmond International Raceway-the site of his first career NASCAR Nationwide Series victory.
Busch returns to the track that started his meteoric rise to the top of the NASCAR world as he and the No. 18 NOS Energy Drink Toyota team prepare for the 250-lap event this Friday evening.
Busch has won at Richmond in NASCAR Nationwide Series competition twice but is looking for his first win under the Joe Gibbs Racing banner. He'll attempt the feat with NOS Energy Drink atop the hood for the second time in 2009. Dating back to October, 2008, Busch is undefeated (2-for-2) in races in Nationwide Series in which he is sponsored by NOS (Charlotte '08, Texas '09).
KYLE'S QUOTES ON RETURNING TO RICHMOND
You're returning to the place where you scored your first NASCAR win. What is it about this place to which you have taken a liking?
"Richmond is a pretty special place for me since I got my first Nationwide win there. It's a fun race track when the lights come on and makes for some really good racing. You'll get the whole short track atmosphere, for sure. Usually this is a tight race track sometimes coming off (turn) two, so Jason (Ratcliff, crew chief) and I will hope to find a balance for our Toyota Camry. With the equipment we get from JGR we always have a shot to win every week, so I'm hoping we can put NOS Energy Drink back in victory lane this weekend."
Kyle Busch has scored two career NASCAR Nationwide Series victories at Richmond, including his first career series win in May 2004.
Out of ten starts, Kyle has scored seven top-ten finishes.
In his two career wins, Kyle led a total of 463 laps (out of a possible 502 laps). Kyle has scored two poles in Nationwide Series competition, both of which preceded wins.
