Fans Invited to Watch the Competition, Meet Drivers & Sample BUBBA burgers®
Richmond, VA (April 1, 2010)--With the BUBBA burger 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race just a month away, many of the drivers are licking their chops--not only for the race, but also the "Signature BUBBA burger®" Contest that kicked off last week. Two NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers--Justin Allgaier and Jason Leffler--showcase their creations live and in person on Wednesday, April 7 at a Richmond-area Kroger grocery store, and fans may join in the fun and get a free BUBBA burger® for lunch.
Allgaier, Leffler, WRIC-TV8 meteorologist Matt DiNardo, WTVR traffic reporter Amanda Meadows and Y101 radio host "Sludge" will square off in a mini competition on April 7, beginning at 10:45 a.m. at Kroger (6335 Mechanicsville Turnpike, Mechanicsville, VA 23111). Each contestant will walk the aisles of Kroger to find ingredients for their "Signature BUBBA burger®." They will first select their choice of BUBBA burger®, which includes: the Original, Reduced Fat, Certified Angus, Sweet Onion, Jalapeno, the Minis (BUBBA burger® sliders) and the brand new, All Natural Turkey BUBBA burger®. Next, contestants may choose any type of topping to create their "Signature BUBBA burger®." Combinations are only limited by the contestants' imaginations.
After finishing off their grocery list in Kroger, the contestants will convene outside, where grill masters will help prepare the tasty burgers. Once the burgers are created, a panel of judges (track president Doug Fritz, Richmond.com editor Karri Peifer and Jamie Sakin with BUBBA burger) will taste each burger to determine the day's champion.
Richmond International Raceway announced the "Signature BUBBA burger®" Contest last week, opening the event to all NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers. Participants are encouraged to submit a description of their creation, upon which the entries will be showcased on www.rir.com for a fan vote.
Voting ends Monday, April 26. The top five vote-getters will be invited to participate in a final "Signature BUBBA burger®" Challenge at Richmond International Raceway on April 30. The burgers will be showcased for a panel of judges to taste and to determine the winner. The champion burger and creator will be recognized during BUBBA burger 250 pre-race ceremonies and the driver's team will win a BUBBA burger® lunch at their race shop.

NASCAR returns to Richmond International Raceway April 30-May 1 for a NASCAR Doubleheader Weekend. The two-day event begins on Friday, April 30, with Wawa Pole Qualifying and practice for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NBC12 Pole Qualifying and practice for the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the BUBBA burger 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race "under the lights" at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $30; children 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult in general admission sections on Friday only.
Saturday, May 1 will feature the Crown Royal Presents The Heath Calhoun 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, set for 7:30 p.m. "under the lights."
