JD Motorsports and Mike Wallace ready to do some good at Dover
GAFFNEY, S.C. (September 27, 2011) – Mike Wallace and the No. 01 Chevrolet of JD Motorsports is ready to keep the good momentum going when they take to the one-mile, concrete oval of Dover International Speedway this Saturday.
Wallace, a NASCAR Nationwide Series winner there in 1994, has scored five top-20 finishes in the last six series races. The last time the series visited the Monster Mile in May, the team left with their heads high after a 10th-place finish. And, they feel there is no reason they can’t do the same this weekend, as well. Currently standing 13th in the Driver’s Points, trailing 12th of Trevor Bayne by a mere five points, Wallace and team feel confident about their task ahead in the New England area.
Mike Wallace Quotes: “Dover couldn’t fall at a better time in the schedule for our JD Motorsports team. We have been really working hard on our chassis and set-ups the last few weeks with pretty good results. We’re finishing more consistently in the top-20, which means we’re getting closer to the top-15s.”
“Each week has been a progressively good learning point for our team, and that’s been showing up in our results. We’re a single-car team without any Cup affiliation for notes and info. But, the folks at Chevrolet have been very helpful to use this year, and it’s starting to show up in certain areas.”
“Being a past winner at a track always gives you that little bit of extra edge when you show up. I don’t care if it was five, 10 or 15 years ago because in the current field of drivers, the list of past winners is still a short one.”
“We left there last time with a top-10 finish because we raced smart and were able to be where we needed to be at the end. If we can build on that for this weekend, then I’ll be looking for good things from our JD Motorsports team.”
