No. 88 Suave Men Chevrolet
You've expressed how much you enjoy running on the concrete tracks in the Nationwide Series. How excited are you to try and build on the team's success at Nashville this weekend. "I just really enjoy running on concrete tracks, that's no secret. Nashville is the type of track that I'm extremely comfortable with, and that transfers into good runs for me there. This is a big weekend for the No. 88 team. Not only are we debuting our Suave Men Chevrolet, but Nashville is the Nationwide Series' first stand-alone event this year, so a lot of eyes will be on our series this weekend. It's such a competitive and entertaining series, and I'm sure fans can look forward to another great race this weekend."
The No. 88 Suave Men team has had a bit of a rollercoaster season. What needs to happen for the team to become more consistent? "It's been quite an up and down season for this Suave Men team for sure. We started off strong at California, but had a setback that was out of our control at Vegas. So we've just kept our heads down and continued working hard. At Bristol after we got wrecked, we still managed to rebound for a 12th-place finish. That says a lot about this team. We were able to come back at the end of the day and finish well despite a damaged race car. The foundation is definitely there for this team to succeed, we need to get it all to line up on race day. Plus we are only on our fourth race together as a team. So we're all still learning each other, and I'm still learning the packages that we run in these cars. But we'll definitely get there."
No. 7 Lifetime Army Wives Chevrolet
What do you remember most about your win at Nashville two years ago? "My win at Nashville in 2008 was special. It was my first win with Richard [Childress] and it was awesome to earn a victory for such a great guy. This weekend I'm hoping to do the same in the Lifetime Army Wives Chevy. Everyone at JR Motorsports is excited to have them on the car this weekend, and we're looking to earn another solid run with this No. 7 program.
"I can't thank Tony [Eury] Jr. enough and all the guys at the shop. They've done a fantastic job putting these cars together, and we really had a great run at Bristol last week as a result. We're hoping for much of the same this weekend at Nashville."
This is a unique opportunity to be running a TV show paint scheme with Army Wives this weekend. What are your thoughts that? - "This is a cool deal that JRM has worked out with Army Wives, which is a television show that airs on Lifetime and will start its fourth season on April 11. It's going to be a privilege to run their car at Nashville. I think it's a sharp looking car and it'll look great on the racetrack. It's also going to be an exciting weekend, because we'll have a couple of the shows' stars as guests this weekend. This will be their first NASCAR race, so it will be a neat experience for them. And with JRM's solid program at intermediate tracks and my past experiences at Nashville, we're hopeful for another top-10 run this weekend."
