BACK WITH FASTENAL - Scott Wimmer climbs back behind the wheel of the No. 5 Fastenal Chevrolet at the Milwaukee Mile this weekend. It is Wimmer's second of six races with Fastenal and JR Motorsports. In his previous race with the team at Darlington, Wimmer drove to a ninth-place finish. That run marked his first top-10 of the season. He has also competed in 10 Nationwide Series races with Key Motorsports in 2009.
TWO HOMECOMINGS - The Milwaukee race weekend marks a homecoming for both Scott Wimmer and JR Motorsports partner, Fastenal. Wimmer hails from Wausau, Wis., which is 180 miles northwest of Milwaukee. Fastenal's corporate headquarters are located in Winona, Minn.
WIMMER AT MILWAUKEE - Wimmer has six starts at the 1-mile oval with a pair of top-five and three top-10 finishes. He has led 21 laps and earned an average finish of 14.0. Wimmer's best run at Milwaukee was a runner-up finish in 2007. Additionally, he will be serving as an In-Race Reporter during ESPN2's live broadcast of Saturday night's race (pre-race coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. ET)
RUNNING UP FRONT - 525. That is the number of laps Wimmer ran inside the top-15 at Milwaukee over the last four races. He is ranked sixth on that list according to NASCAR statistical services.
A FASTENAL SUMMER - Fastenal serves as the primary sponsor of the No. 5 Chevrolet for the next nine races in which the team competes. You can see the blue and white Fastenal Chevy in races at Milwaukee, Daytona, Chicago, O'Reilly Raceway Park (Indianapolis), Iowa, Watkins Glen, Michigan, Bristol and Montreal. Fastenal will run its final two races at Richmond and Kansas.
CHASSIS INFO - The No. 5 Fastenal team will run chassis 444. In previous competition, this chassis was driven to a sixth-place finish at Phoenix in the fall of 2008.
WIMMER: (on expectations when climbing behind the wheel of the Fastenal Chevrolet) "This is going to be an exciting weekend with the Fastenal Chevy. Fastenal is bringing 400 of its friends and employees to the race, and they'll be doing a hospitality tent, so it's going to be a lot of fun. I can't think of anything better than getting them to victory lane at our home track.
"There is just a lot of pressure to win right now. Anytime you race in the type of equipment that JR Motorsports provides, you expect strong results. So we're anticipating good things this weekend. But it doesn't come easy and there's a lot of hard work involved in winning these races. I know we'll have good shot at a win with the Fastenal Chevy."
WIMMER: (on racing in his home state) "Milwaukee is one of my favorite tracks. Growing up in Wisconsin, my dream always was to race at the Milwaukee Mile. I've been fortunate enough to do that. I've finished second and third there, but haven't won it yet. I'm hoping that we can get that first win with Fastenal and JR Motorsports this weekend."
WIMMER: (on what to watch for during the race) "Milwaukee is a great track for the Nationwide Series. Our cars seem to put on great racing on one-mile tracks. It's a little different from what we're used to racing on. It's real flat. We really have to watch our tires. Tires are going to wear out quick. We practice all day and we race at night. So there is going to be a lot of different strategies going into the race."
