Career Best Finish: This past weekend at Kentucky Speedway Bryan Clauson scored a career-best fifth-place finish in his young NASCAR Nationwide career. Prior to this weekend, the young driver had a career-best finish of sixth at the Daytona International Speedway which came earlier this season.
Kentucky Recap: Clauson, who celebrated his 19th birthday on Sunday, celebrated a little early on Saturday after posting a career high fifth-place finish and winning the Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors at Kentucky Speedway. After starting the race in the 16th position, the team made some early adjustments to the car to wrangle its handling. Then, a strategic pit stop call by crew chief Brad Parrott helped the driver and team land fifth on the final rundown.
Wisconsin Connection: The No. 40 Fastenal Dodge crew member Marty Forcier is making a homecoming of sorts this weekend. The Superior, Wis., native got into racing as a field marketing representative for Coors. He joined CGRFS in 1997 and today serves as a mechanic and front-tire carrier.
Standings Update: After grabbing a top five this past weekend in Kentucky, the No. 40 Fastenal Dodge team improved their standing to 17th overall in NNS owner points. With a current tally of 1,761 points, the team is just 21 points outside the top 15, 183 out of the 10th position and 691 points from the first place
No. 40 Fastenal Dodge (NNS): Chassis #754. This is the same chassis ran as the No. 40 Fastenal Dodge at Phoenix International Raceway earlier this year. Franchitti qualified the car in the 13th position and after a clean run in the 200-mile event, finished 11th, winning the Raybestos Rookie of the Race award.
