RETURNING TO THE SCENE -- This weekend, Colin Braun and the No. 16 Con-way Freight Team return to Michigan International Speedway, the track where Braun notched his first NASCAR victory. Braun took the checkers last season in the Camping World Truck Series after a pass of Kyle Busch with 24 laps remaining. While it was Braun's first win, it was Roush Fenway Racing's 50th Truck Series victory, which came in the backyard of Jack Roush, Ford and Con-way Freight.
HOME TO SPECIAL FOLKS -- The weekend's race at MIS is special for Braun and the No. 16 Con-way Freight team. The Ann Arbor, Mich., based Con-way Freight has been the rookie's primary sponsor for three years; two in the Camping World Truck Series and now in the Nationwide Series. Con-way Freight is the industry's leading less-than-truckload (LTL) freight transportation company, which provides guaranteed, day-definite regional and transcontinental service with exception-free delivery, on-time service performance and faster transit times through a single, unified network of more than 300 service centers.J
BRAUN AT MICHIGAN -- While it is his first trip to Michigan in the Nationwide Series, Braun has found success at the two-mile oval. Braun scored his first win after starting 12th last season and also recorded an additional top 10, finishing sixth in 2008 in the Camping World Truck Series.
MICHICAN CHASSIS SELECTION -- Crew chief Rick Viers has selected RK-475 for this weekend's Carfax 250 at Michigan International Speedway. This is the first time this car will see competitive laps on track and the first time Braun will take competitive laps in the new Mustang.
Braun, on returning to Michigan:
"Michigan is obviously a very special place for me, Jack (Roush) and Con-way Freight. I don't think we could have picked a better place to get my first win. We've had a couple unfortunate weeks here. I'm ready to get back going in the right direction again, and I can't think of a better place to do it than in Michigan. We have a lot going on this week and I'm very excited to get my chance to race the new Ford Mustang. My guys have worked real hard to get this new chassis ready for this weekend. We are all looking for a good solid finish and I'd love to be able to get another win for Roush Fenway and Con-way Freight."
Crew chief Rick Viers, on heading to Michigan with Braun:
"This will be the first time Colin (Braun) has been able to drive one of these new Mustangs in a race. After winning here in the truck series and this being the home track for Roush Fenway Racing and Con-way Freight, we know it will be a great weekend for our No. 16 Con-way Freight team."
