McDOWELL INTENSE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

Loudon, N.H. (April 26, 2009)- Michael McDowell speaks with a sense of urgency in his voice lately. With only two races left in his 2009 schedule, one can understand.

"I always treat each weekend like it's my last. Ever since go-karts, you never know when you've run your last race. I have never been comfortable enough to relax my intensity. With two to go, it's even more intense," said McDowell.

McDowell brought that intensity to JTG Daugherty Racing in 2009 where there was enough funding to secure a seat for the first half of the NASCAR Nationwide Series. In 15 starts, McDowell has 3 top-10s and 10 top-15s. Acclimating himself with the NASCAR Nationwide Series after 20 cup races and an ARCA schedule has been enjoyable.

"I feel like I'm getting a chance to do it the right way. There aren't a whole lot of ARCA to Cup drivers for a reason. There is a lot to learn by running the Nationwide Series," said McDowell.

Regardless of what he learned, McDowell has only two more chances to showcase it. Daytona is the last scheduled event for McDowell in the #47.

"I know Tad and everyone at JTG Daugherty Racing is working hard to secure more events. Of course I'd like to more races, there's no question about that," said McDowell.

McFacts:

2009: McDowell has three top-10 finishes in 2009 (Vegas, Richmond, Nashville); Ten top-15 finishes (Daytona, Nashville, Phoenix, Talladega, Richmond, Dover, Milwaukee)

New Hampshire Stats: 2 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Starts: Q- 42. F- 38 (engine) Q- 27. F- 35.

Two to go: McDowell has only two more scheduled starts with JTG Daugherty Racing in 2009.

McQuote:

"Loudon's long straightaways and wide corners are always tricky to find balance at. I'm always more confident on flat tracks where we use a lot of braking. Loudon is a deep braking zone track where you can complete hard fought quality passes."
