KESELOWSKI AT VEGAS: Brad Keselowski will drive the No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS for JR Motorsports on Saturday in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Sam's Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Keselowski has one prior Nationwide Series start at the track (34th in 2007) and one previous Truck Series start at LVMS.
NO. 88 TEAM AT VEGAS - The No. 88 Navy team has two previous starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Last year the team scored a ninth-place finish in the Sam's Town 300.
KESELOWSKI ENJOYS RIDE WITH BLUE ANGELS - On Tuesday, Keselowski got up to speed with the Navy's Blue Angels in El Centro, Calif. The 24-year-old driver went up in a F/A-18 Hornet, a state of the art, high performance strike/fighter aircraft with pilot LT Frank Weisser. The flight lasted just over an hour as LT Weisser performed various tactical different maneuvers. **Contact Annette Randall for photos of Keselowski's experience.**
SPECIAL VISOR - In honor of his flight with the Blue Angels, Keselowski will wear a gold visor this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Navy's Blue Angels wear gold visors on their helmets.
CHASSIS NO. 356 - The No. 88 team will run Chassis No. 405 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Last year the No. 24 Nationwide Series team competed with the car twice, scoring a ninth-place finish at Michigan with Casey Mears and an 18th-place finish at Dover with Landon Cassill. Keselowski tested Chassis No. 405 at Las Vegas in January and was fifth and 13th fastest in the two sessions on the final day.
NEW TEAMMATE - Keselowski will be paired with the NASCAR Nationwide Series all-time win leader Mark Martin this weekend at LVMS as Martin drives the No. 5 Delphi Chevrolet for JR Motorsports.
U.S. NAVY EOD - The No. 88 Navy team will be joined by members of the U.S. Navy's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit. These sailors are the world's premier combat force for countering Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), and all other types of weaponry. The EOD technicians being honored at the Las Vegas race represent EOD Mobile Units ONE and THREE, based in San Diego; EOD Mobile Unit FIVE in Guam and EOD Mobile Unit ELEVEN in Whidbey Island, Wash.
BRAD KESELOWSKI (on flying with Blue Angels) - "It was awesome. That was definitely a wild ride that I will never forget. I was amazed by some of the maneuvers LT Weisser was able to perform during my flight. It was also cool to see how similar the whole experience was to what we go through on race day with my Navy team. We started off with a briefing that was a lot like our driver/crew chief meeting. Then I was strapped in and we took off on the flight. After we reviewed the flight just like I would debrief with Pops [crew chief Tony Eury Sr.] after a race. "
BRAD KESELOWSKI (on racing at LVMS) - "We did some testing in the off season, including the Nationwide Series session out in Vegas at the end of January. We tried a number of different things and learned a lot at the test that I think will help us in the race. Vegas is a fairly unique track that you can't really compare to the others. We run a number of mile-and-half tracks, but none quite like Vegas. Bruton Smith and all the folks at the track have created an awesome facility. I'm sure the Nationwide Series will put on a great show for all the fans."
BRAD KESELOWSKI (on racing with teammate Mark Martin) - "Having teammates is a big boost for the Navy team this year. It's a great resource. To have the ability to go over to those guys and see what they're running and how it's working for them and to bounce ideas off of one another, that's priceless information. I talked with Mark (Martin) at Homestead in the fall and during the test back in January. He has a lot of knowledge and experience at this level. It's pretty cool to have the opportunity to work with someone like that."
