Brad Coleman Celebrates His Birthday Early
On his last day as a 19 Year-Old Coleman posts strong 19th Place finish at California
(Fontana, Calif.) Feb. 27, 2008 - On his last day as a 19 year-old, Brad Coleman tried to bring home an early birthday present for himself with a strong finish for the No. 27 Cottonelle/VONS Ford Fusion. Notching a top-20 performance with a 19th place finish was a good wrap up to a remarkable teenage career.
Battling a car that was tight in the beginning and extremely loose at the end of the race gave Coleman quite a fight, but one that he was able to conquer.
"With only one practice session and no qualifying for the weekend, it was tough to get going at the beginning," said Coleman. "Being my first trip here in a stock car; it took awhile to get adjusted to the entire set-up. However, my crew worked so hard and knocked out some lightning fast pit stops to get the car where we needed it. We took a couple of hits during the race when we were running three wide but I was able to maintain control of the No. 27 Cottonelle/VONS Ford Fusion and bring it home 19th. This gives us a big jump in the Nationwide Series points standing for my team as we head to Las Vegas."
The finish moved the team up in the overall race for the Nationwide Series Championship to 20th.
"Brad handled the car with great care and skill today," said Shawn Parker, crew chief. "He never lost his cool and kept calm with the various changes in handling the car had throughout the race. He just did a great job and now it is up to us to give him better cars that will continue to run at the top."
On his last day as a teenager Coleman was able to do a little early celebrating and enjoy his birthday as a driver with some solid momentum heading into Las Vegas.
