Drivers to greet fans on Cincinnati's Fountain Square and Florence, Ky., Meijer store
SPARTA, Ky. -- NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers Brad Keselowski, Stephen Leicht and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., will promote Kentucky Speedway's "Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz" during a June 11 autograph signing in the Meijer store at 4990 Houston Rd., in Florence, Ky., and a special "Dash to the Square" rally on Cincinnati's Fountain Square June 12.
Keselowski, driver of the No. 88 Nationwide Series Chevrolet owned by Dale Earnhardt, Jr., will join 2007 "Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz" champion Stephen Leicht on Cincinnati's Fountain Square from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on June 12. Fans visiting the event will be able test their driving skills in a race simulator, learn about the Nationwide Insurance "Driving While Distracted" educational program, view racecars and meet drivers during an autograph session. Special guests include Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory.
Keselowski ranks fifth in the current NASCAR Nationwide Series championship standings after earning his first victory of the season in Dover, Del., on May 30. He also earned a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory earlier this season with Hendrick Motorsports at Talladega Superspeedway April 26. Leicht will make his third start of the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series campaign in the "Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz" in the No. 29 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet he shares with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series veteran Jeff Burton and NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Scott Wimmer. Leicht earned an 11th-place finish at Nashville Superspeedway April 11 and will be back in action at the track June 6.
Stenhouse, Jr., will drive the No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford in the "Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz" and visit with fans at the Houston Rd., Meijer from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on June 11. The Olive Branch, Miss., driver earned a 150-mile ARCA RE/MAX Series victory at Kentucky Speedway on May 10, 2008 and drove to a 23rd-place finish at Nashville Superspeedway in his first NASCAR Nationwide Series start of the season on April 11. He also is slated to compete in the June 6 Nashville event.
The ninth 300-mile NASCAR Nationwide Series event in track history is set for an 8:30 p.m., start June 13. Speedway gates open at 2:00 p.m., and the full day of activity includes "Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz" qualifying at 5:00 p.m., along with an exclusive concert with country music artist Pat Green at 6:30 p.m. Actress, singer-songwriter and philanthropist Hilary Duff will be the race grand marshal and is encouraging fans to donate new and used backpacks to the "Blessings in a Backpack" charity she represents on race day. Donations can be made at the Meijer display near the speedway main entrance.
The second of four 2009 speedway event weekends opens Friday, June 12 at 5:00 p.m., when NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers take to the 1.5-mile tri-oval track for the first of two practice sessions. Practice concludes at 8:00 p.m. All Friday tickets are $20 in advance and include infield access. Children age 12 and younger will be admitted free.
