McDOWELL RETURNS TO JUMP START TRACK

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Sparta, Ky. (June 12, 2009)- Michael McDowell points to one racetrack on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series Schedule as his break-out performance. That track is the site of this weekend's NASCAR Nationwide Series Meijer 300, Kentucky Speedway.

"Back in 2007 we had phenomenal racecars and great opportunities to win races early in the season. Finally, at Kentucky, we sat on the outside pole, dominated and won the race. It was the spark to fuel three more wins that season," said McDowell.

Fast forward to 2009 where one could draw some similarities. After eight top-15 finishes this season, McDowell is yearning for a win. Strong runs everywhere have given McDowell optimism but no trophies. McDowell is hoping the Sparta, KY track has some magic left in it.

"Going back to the place where we jump started the ARCA program is special. I look forward to going back to a place where I have a lot of laps and great memories. This year is similar to 2007. We have ran strong everywhere, but haven't been able to capitalize. We keep improving the program week by week, race by race and it's stronger than it's ever been. I really feel we have a great shot at running well and coming to Kentucky, hopefully we can spark another win.

McFacts:

Kentucky Stats: 2 ARCA RE/MAX Series Starts: Q- 1nd. F- 39th (accident) Q- 2st. F- 1st.

Qualifying Threat: McDowell has an average start of 1.5 at the Kentucky Speedway.

McQuote:

"Kentucky is a very familiar place. I tested the MWR Cup cars there a lot in a COT. I've run well there, the first stock car win of my career. Kentucky is unique in shape, the way the banking works for you on both ends. I'm a big fan of concrete racetracks as I seem to do well at places like Kentucky."
