Great Clips is the longest-running sponsor in the Nationwide Series...Minneapolis-based Great Clips, Inc. came onto the scene in 2001 as a primary sponsor of Akins Motorsports No. 38 entry, then driven by Christian Elder. Kasey Kahne drove the car from 2003-2005, before Leffler took over the wheel in 2006.
Leffler on returning to Kentucky Speedway
"Kentucky is a great race track. It's wide, with lots of room for passing and a lot of grip. The wide grooves allow you to run pretty much anywhere on the track you want to and where your car handles the best. Kentucky has not been one of my better tracks in the past but with the way the Great Clips team has been performing for the last few races, we look at this weekend as an opportunity to get our first win of the season."
Leffler on his team's recent gain of momentum
"I'm very excited about the way our team has performed as of late. We struggled early on but in the last four races have gotten things turned around. We finished fifth at Darlington and Dover and seventh at Charlotte. Last weekend we were really fast and I think had real potential to contend for the win, but a motor issue took us out of the race early. We have moved from 15th to seventh in the point standings with these last four races, so I feel really good about the momentum we are building and the direction we are heading."
The No. 38 Great Clips team will hit the track with chassis #BR035 in this weekend's Meijer 300. Chassis #035 has seen track time this season in events at Charlotte (7th), Darlington (5th), Texas (12th) and Las Vegas (12th).
