Allgaier Ready for Title Hunt in 2012 - After a successful 2011, where he finished third in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) point standings, Justin Allgaier returns to "The World Center of Speed" with a renewed sense of pride and ready to make a run at the 2012 NNS Championship. Allgaier came away from the 2011 season with one win, six top-five and 17 top-10 finishes and has plans to improve upon that in 2012.
Allgaier at Daytona International Speedway - Allgaier will make his seventh career NNS start at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) this weekend. In six previous attempts, Allgaier owns two top-five and three top-10 finishes, along with 11 laps led. He has an average start of 15.7 coupled with an average finish of 16.8. Allgaier's career-best finish came in the season opener of 2010 where he finished fourth.
Building Consistency in 2012: Elledge Returns - In an attempt to build upon last year's successes, Jimmy Elledge is returning to call the shots for Allgaier and the No. 31 BRANDT team this season. This is the second full season for the pair out of the Turner Motorsports stable as well as Elledge's fourth season in NNS competition.
Making an Important Visit - On Tuesday, after fulfilling media opportunities in the Jacksonville area, Allgaier will head to the Mayport Naval Station with a few fellow drivers. One of three major Naval installations in the Jacksonville area, Mayport is home to the Navy's 4th Fleet as well as a busy seaport and air facility. While on base, Allgaier will tour the facility, have lunch with base personnel and tour the on-base Youth Center as well as sign autographs for service men and women.
Come Sail Away - Just before heading to Daytona Beach, Allgaier and wife Ashley joined friends and fellow racers on the KLOVE Friends and Family Cruise to the Bahamas. While on the trip, the Allgaiers had the opportunity to hear numerous Christian musicians and speakers while visiting three different ports throughout the Caribbean.
This Week's Impala - This weekend, Allgaier will pilot TMS-316 in the DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway. While this is a brand new chassis for 2012, it has adopted the moniker "Road Runner", recalling the old cartoon, as Allgaier accidentally struck a coyote while testing with the car in Yuma, Arizona.
Allgaier on returning to Daytona and the 2012 season:
"I'm definitely ready for the 2012 season and excited to get back out on track in Daytona this weekend. It's been a great off season, but as a racer, I want to be doing just that- racing. Our guys have been working really hard over the past couple months on getting our cars ready and I'm looking forward to turning those first few laps to see how good they are. In my last trip to Daytona (July), we came away with a pretty good finish and I'm looking to replicate that. I would love nothing more than the chance to thank BRANDT and my Turner Motorsports team with a trip to victory lane in the first race of the season. We're looking for great things this year and I'm ready to get started."
