Tom's Snacks to sponsor McDowell and the #47
Last week it was announced that Michael McDowell would be joining a new team, JTG Daugherty Racing, and this week the team announced his new primary sponsor. Charlotte-based Tom's Snacks (part of Lance, Inc.) will be featured as primary sponsor on McDowell's #47 Toyota Camry for 10 events this season beginning this weekend in Daytona.
Co-owner Tad Geschickter commented, "We are thrilled to add Tom's to the JTG Daugherty family. They are a great American brand with over 80 years of success. We are excited to have them as partners with other sponsoring brands like Kingsford, Clorox and Bush Beans to drive sales and market share at retailers in race markets throughout the season."
Eric Boonshaft, Tom's Brand Manager, added, "JTG Daugherty is the one organization that offers competitive racing and a turn-key activation program that can make a difference for our brand. Their proven track record with other sponsors made it an easy decision. We are excited for NASCAR fans to satisfy their cravings for big crunch and bold flavors with our Hot Fries, Thunder Chips, Pork Skins, Onion Rings and other great snacks. We look forward to supporting the team and Michael McDowell's efforts this season."
Joining McDowell is new Crew Chief Gene Nead, who previously, was responsible for research and development at TRD-supported Bill Davis Racing. Nead brings significant experience to the #47 team, having won 17 races across NASCAR's three national series since 1992, including a Truck series championship.
