SAUTER FINISHES 25TH IN 200TH CAREER NATIONWIDE START

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 25, 2010) -- Johnny Sauter, making his 200th career NASCAR Nationwide Series start, came home 25th in the Kroger 200 benefitting Riley Hospital for Children Saturday night at O'Reilly Raceway Park.

Sauter started the race from the 17th position and in the early stages of the race communicated to crew chief John Reese that the No. 27 Curb Records/National FFA Organization Ford Fusion was too loose. When the first caution of the race occurred on lap 76, he came down pit road when the Baker Curb Racing crew put on four fresh tires, made a wedge adjustment, filled the car with fuel and returned the veteran driver back to the track scored in the 17th position.

As the race progressed, the Necedah, Wis. native continued to communicate that the car was too loose as he remained scored in the top 20. When the second caution of the race occurred on lap 119, Sauter brought his No. 27 down pit road for more adjustments, a full tank of fuel, and four fresh tires and returned to the track scored in the 17th position.

When a caution occurred on lap 161, Sauter was running in the 20th position. With the threat of rain closing in over the track, crew chief John Reese elected to gamble and keep the No. 27 Curb Records/National FFA Organization Ford Fusion on the track.

The race went back to green flag conditions on lap 173 with Sauter was scored in the ninth position. The rain never came and other cars with fresher tires slowly got by the No. 27 as the race ended.

23-year old Drew Herring will make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut Saturday driving Baker Curb Racing's No. 27 Ford Fusion at Iowa Speedway in the U.S Cellular 250 presented by Northland Oil and John Deere. The No. 27 remains ranked tenth in the NASCAR Nationwide Series owner point standings.
