* This Week's Charger... The No. 12 Verizon Wireless team will race chassis PRS 008 during Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series event. PRS 008 ran a handful of races in 2008, including the race at Auto Club Speedway.
* First Time... Rookie of the year candidate Justin Allgaier will make his first start at Auto Club Speedway this weekend. * Vacation Needed... Allgaier will remain on the West Coast after running Saturday's event at Auto Club Speedway. He and his wife Ashley are going to spend a couple of extra days enjoying the sites before the heading to "Sin City" for the February 28 race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
* Come and See Me... Allgaier will sign autographs at the Penske Racing souvenir trailer on Saturday, February 21 from 12-12:30 pm. PT. The trailer is located on souvenir row on the front stretch at Auto Club Speedway.
Justin Allgaier on driving at Auto Club Speedway
"I am excited about heading out to Auto Club Speedway. I have never been there before so I am going to rely a lot on Chad [Walter] and my teammates to help me figure the place out. That is what is so great about Penske Racing. If I have questions about my line or where to run on the track I can go to David [Stremme], Kurt [Busch] or Sam [Hornish Jr.] and get their advice.
"I know Chad and all the guys at the shop have been working hard on our intermediate program. This will be our first real test to see what progress we have made."
Crew Chief Chad Walter on Auto Club Speedway
"There are a couple of keys to being successful at Auto Club Speedway. The first is getting your car to handle throughout the entire race. The track gets really slick as the race progresses and your car has to have the adjustability built into it. If you can keep up with the track you are going to be in a position to battle for the win.
"Qualifying is paramount. Auto Club Speedway is a place where it is hard to pass and track position is so important. We will make a number of qualifying runs during practice to get Justin comfortable in qualifying trim.
"It is a long race and we will spend the first half of the race just working on getting our car dialed in for the final two runs."
