This Week's No. 09 Zaxby's Ford: John Wes Townley will pilot chassis No. 032 in this weekend's Copart 300 at Auto Club Speedway. This chassis was built for the 2009 season and made its debut at Fontana in February but was last seen at Chicagoland where the rookie finished 21st.
John Wes Townley at Fontana: Townley has one start at Auto Club Speedway. The Watkinsville, GA native started 14th and finished 22nd in the 2009 Stater Bros. 300 in February.
Season Review: After 29 of the 35 scheduled events on the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, John Wes Townley has 20 starts including one top-10 and five top-15's. The 19-year-old rookie also has four top-20 and eight top-25 finishes.
Points Check: John Wes Townley gained one spot in the 2009 driver point standings following the Kansas Lottery 300 and the No. 09 entry remains 33rd in the owner point standings with 1, 908 points; just 48 markers behind 32nd and 478 points outside the top-30.
Rookie Race: Townley currently remains 7th in the 2009 Raybestos Rookie of the year battle.
In The Garage: Brett Sumpter, RAB Racing's mechanic/rear tire carrier is from the "Golden State". Sumpter was born and raised in Monterrey, CA but currently resides in Mooresville, NC. The 23-year-old moved to the east coast 2 years ago to work in racing and has been with RAB Racing for two seasons now. Brett's hobbies include mountain biking, snowboarding and he most recently competed in his first triathlon, "Take Flight Triathlon" on Sunday, October 4th finishing 4th in his age group and 85th of over 700 competitors overall.
We're Guessing He Signs His Name Fast Too: John Wes Townley will join other NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers for an autograph session on Friday, October 9th from 5:00-6:00 p.m. (local time) at the Official Trackside Merchandise Trailer following NNS final practice.
