KESELOWSKI AT CALIFORNIA - This will be Brad Keselowski's sixth time racing at Auto Club Speedway and he is still looking for his first top-10 finish. In last February's race, rain plagued qualifying and the grid was set by owner's points, putting Keselowski 15th in the starting line-up. Transmission failure ended the team's day early and he finished the race 32nd.
FIRST RACE AT FONTANA - Keselowski made his Nationwide Series debut at Auto Club Speedway in the fall of 2006. Since then, he has made 69 career starts amassing two wins, one pole award, 20 top-10s, and 11 top-fives.
NEVER FORGOTTEN - One of Keselowski's most memorable on-track experiences occurred at Auto Club Speedway in the Camping World 300 in the fall of 2007. Contact with the Nos. 1 and 42 cars sent Keselowski up into the outside wall between turns 1 and 2, causing the car to ride the retaining wall and catch on fire before coming to a stop in turn 2. Keselowski was able to walk away from the incident with only minor bumps and bruises, but called the crash a "crazy ride." To this day, it remains a "YouTube" hit when typing in the key words "Keselowski" and "crash".
READY FOR MY CLOSE-UP - During the off-season, Keselowski spent a few days filming commercials that will be used during the 2009 season. One of the bigger shoots was for primary sponsor GoDaddy.com and was aired over the Daytona 500 weekend. The commercial featured Keselowski and team owner, Dale Earnhardt Jr.
"I had a lot of fun filming the commercials for GoDaddy.com," Keselowski said. "We did the shoot right there on Dale's property and all of the GoDaddy folks were just awesome to work with. The first commercial we did came out really well, but I'm even more excited to see the second one."
A second GoDaddy.com commercial featuring one of the fan favorite "GoDaddy.com girls" will be aired at a later date.
PRESENTED BY - This weekend, sponsor GoDaddy.com will not only be featured on the hood of the No. 88 Chevy, but in the ESPN2 race broadcast as the presenting sponsor of the event as well. During the broadcast, the 150-lap event will be referred to as the Stater Bros. 300 presented by GoDaddy.com.
CHASSIS NO. 405 - The GoDaddy.com team will run Chassis No. 405 at Auto Club Speedway this weekend. The car was most recently run at Homestead-Miami Speedway at the conclusion of the 2008 season where Keselowski qualified sixth and finished third.
KESELOWSKI (on returning to California in 2009) - "I have not had the greatest luck out in California at all. Between the big crash in 2007 and some parts failures last year, this track is definitely not on my list of favorites, but I'm hopeful that this is the year we can turn that around. My guys have been working so hard on this GoDaddy.com car and so I know that I'll have good equipment underneath me."
KESELOWSKI (on coming back to where he made his debut) - "I can't believe it's been two and a half years since I started racing in the Nationwide Series. So much has changed since that first start at Auto Club Speedway back in 2006. I have definitely been given an amazing opportunity to race for JR Motorsports and we continue to get better as a team each week. I'm hopeful that this is the year I can get them a win here as well as the Nationwide Series championship."
