Five things to watch in Saturday's Xfinity race at Charlotte

Here are five things to watch for in Saturday’s race:

• JR Motorsports drivers hold the top three positions in the series standings heading into the weekend – veteran Elliott Sadler is the series leader, followed by Justin Allgaier (29 points behind) in second and rookie and Charlotte native William Byron (49 points behind) in third. This is the first season in series history an organization has held the top three spots in the driver standings.

• Camping World Truck Series regular Christopher Bell will make his Xfinity Series debut this weekend, driving Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 18 Toyota with crew chief Eric Phillips. Bell already has one Truck win this season and is second in the series standings. This is the first of seven planned Xfinity races for Bell.

• Ben Kennedy, great-grandson of NASCAR founder Bill France Sr., will make his second series start of the season this weekend and first with GMS Racing. Kennedy will drive the No. 96 Chevrolet as a teammate to Spencer Gallagher. In his first series start this season last month at Talladega, Ala., Kennedy finished fourth driving for Richard Childress Racing.

• JGR driver Matt Tifft and BMX athlete Josh Perry have teamed up to bring the focus to Brain Tumor Awareness month. Tifft will host Perry, who is a brain tumor survivor of five years, as a featured guest this weekend. Tifft was sidelined last season to have surgery to remove a tumor from his brain. He is currently seventh in the series standings.

• Six Monster Energy NASCAR Cup drivers are competing in the Xfinity race this weekend – Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon, Ryan Blaney, Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin. Keselowski (three), Austin Dillon (two) and Hamlin (one) are all former Charlotte Xfinity race winners.
