Erik Jones continues to impress

JGR rookie earns third career NXS pole

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Three’s a charm for Erik Jones.

On Saturday, the Joe Gibbs Racing development driver earned the pole for the Drive to Stop Diabetes 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

For Jones, 18, it was his third career XFINITY Series pole – and his third in seven races this season.

Last week, Jones earned his first career NXS win from the pole at Texas. His first pole came at Auto Club Speedway earlier this year.

Joey Logano, Austin Dillon, Brian Scott and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top five qualifiers.

Chase Elliott, the defending NXS champion, failed to transfer to the final round and will start 13th.

For JGR, it was the seventh Bristol pole in nine races.
