Denny Hamlin delivers Toyota’s 100th career NXS win

RICHMOND, Va. - It seems fitting that Toyota’s 100^th XFINITY Series victory came in the Toyota Care 250 at Richmond International Raceway on Friday night.

Denny Hamlin won the pole and led 248 of 250 laps to earn his seventh Toyota win in dramatic fashion. It was also Toyota’s seventh NXS victory for a Camry on the .75-mile track.

While the late Jason Leffler is credited with the first NXS Camry win at Lucas Oil Raceway in 2007, no driver has been more prolific than Kyle Busch. Busch has amassed 59 of his 70 NXS wins with Toyota through JGR. Unfortunately, Busch has not added to his tally this season. He has been sidelined while he recuperates from injuries sustained in a NXS wreck in the season opener at Daytona.

Still, the XFINITY milestones Busch has collected for Toyota are impressive. On the road to winning the 2009 driver’s NXS championship in a Camry, he established records for laps led in a single season (2,698), 10 consecutive and 20 total first or second place finishes. He leads the tour with 70 victories, 14,744 laps led and 22 wins from the pole. Busch also contributed to the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Manufacturer’s titles.

Since Camry’s debut in NASCAR’s second series, 12 different drivers have scored wins for Toyota. In addition to Busch, Hamlin and Leffler, multiple winners include Joey Logano (18), Tony Stewartt (5), Matt Kenseth (3) and Marcos Ambrose (2). Kurt Busch, Sam Hornish Jr., David Reutimann, Elliott Sadler and Erik Jones each have one win.
