Harmon, Elite 2 Racing Set for Camping World 300; New team gives veteran driver optimism for 2008
Mooresville, NC (February 4, 2008) ... Speedweeks at the Daytona International Speedway each year is an exciting time for drivers, teams, sponsors, and fans. Drivers debut their new cars and sponsors, and everyone has high hopes for the upcoming season. Such is the case for Mike Harmon. The veteran driver from Alabama will debut for a new team, Elite 2 Racing, in the Camping World 300 at DIS on Saturday, February 16th.
Mike Harmon Racing has partnered with Elite 2 Sports and Entertainment to form Elite 2 Racing and plans to run the entire 2008 Nationwide Series schedule. Elite 2 Sports and Entertainment is a Florida-based company with clients in both the sports and entertainment industry. Their partnership with Harmon to create Elite 2 Racing will provide a great marketing and promotional tool for the entire organization.
Harmon, a veteran of 94 career Nationwide Series starts in his seven years of competition, will be driving the #84 D.A.B. Constructors, Inc. Chevrolet in the Camping World 300. Elite 2 Racing will also partner with Mike Bartlett of Mooresville, North Carolina for the 2008 season-opening event.
Harmon has three previous Nationwide Series starts at Daytona, but none since July, 2003. In his three races at DIS, Harmon has a best finish of 22nd in the February, 2002 event. Harmon has been running at the finish of all three Nationwide Series races at Daytona, completing 318 of 320 laps.
"The new partnership with Elite 2 Sports and Entertainment is an exciting venture for our entire team," Harmon stated. "We are very thankful for the support of our sponsors, D.A.B. Constructors, Inc., RedHotFranchises.com, The Daily Buzz, Buchanan Hauling & Rigging, Inc., and the Nick Jones Foundation. This will, without a doubt, be the best Nationwide Series car that I've ever had at Daytona, and I'm looking forward to getting the 2008 season off to a great start for Elite 2 Racing."
