KEVIN HARVICK , NO. 29 SHELL-PENNZOIL CHEVROLET -- WILL START ON POLE
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT TOMORROW NIGHT?
"For us we didn't have a lot of speed in our car for qualifying trim and we had already qualified so obviously that will make things easier at the beginning of the race to get going and I think our car drives really well and that is going to be the key to both races this weekend to be able to keep the throttle on the floor for more than four or five laps is a good thing. Its definitely going to be a handling race and we are looking forward to it."
CAN YOU COMMENT ON THE PATCH AND DID YOU SEE ANYTHING IN PRACTICE YESTERDAY?
"I didn't see anything and I heard Kyle talking about the swell and that is the reason that patch is there because you hit the ground so I didn't notice anything different than before the patch was there."
IS PIT STALL NO. 1 STILL JUST AS MUCH OF AN ADVANTAGE HERE AS IT IS ELSEWHERE?
"Only if the caution comes out. Obviously if the caution doesn't come out its probably a little bit of a disadvantage getting back going under green flag racing but if there is a caution at the end of the race, I would take my chances on having that pit stall just to gain a few spots if you are not leading the race or wherever you are at. And the other thing it creates is not getting run over with getting in and out of your pit stall and getting damage on pit road so the risk versus reward of taking a timing line back is probably not worth it."
COMMENTS ON DRIVERS WANTING BIGGER RESTRICTOR PLATES. BASED ON PRACTICE YESTERDAY, DO YOU THINK THIS IS THE RIGHT DIRECTION?
"There are a few that need a smaller restrictor plate in my opinion. (laughs) But the one thing it allows you to do is to let out of the throttle and I think from the speed from the Nationwide car to the Cup car is a tremendous difference just from the speed of the car and the way that you pull up and things happen quite a bit faster but it's just part of it. You pull up faster you do a lot of other things faster it's just that I like being able to let out of the throttle and being able to get back in the throttle so it gives you options I think."
HOW BAD DO YOU WANT TO WIN THIS RACE ON THE OLD SURFACE? WOULD YOU WANT A PIECE OF THE OLD SURFACE AS A MEMENTO?
"I don't think any of us came not wanting to win. Whether it's the new surface or the old surface, I think you want to win. Yeah, I think that would be a cool memento to have a piece of the race track. I have a piece of the old Bristol victory lane so that's kind of cool."
WILL YOU COME IN AND PIT WITH FIVE LAPS TO GO AND GET FRESH TIRES NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE?
"I think so. It depends on where you're running, obviously. If you're leading the race, you'd better have at least 10 cars stay out behind you or you're in trouble. And it's not going to be a little bit, it's going to be a lot. Once you start pushing and shoving, you've got to have the grip in your car to be able to slice and dice like you need to."
ON COMMENT MADE BY BRIAN FRANCE TO POSSIBLY CHANGE THE CHASE FORMAT
"Well, I have thoughts on it but I don't know that I should express them today (laughter). We'll see what they come up with. He knows my thoughts on it."
