July 4, 2008 - James Hylton survived a mid-race oil leak and raced to a 36th place finish in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Winn-Dixie 250 contested at Daytona International Speedway. Hylton, driving the sponsordavis.com / Americano Beach Resorts Chevrolet Monte Carlo eclipsed his own record as the oldest driver to start a major NASCAR event. Hylton also broke his career single-race earning record by winning $26,568. Hylton's previous best race earning was the $24,865 captured upon winning the 1972 Talladega 500 on August 6, 1972.

"It was quite a wild ride for a few laps" said the 73 year old racing legend Hylton "I had oil spraying back on the left rear tire from a small hole in an oil line and the car was becoming very loose." Car owner Johnny Davis quickly diagnosed and changed the damaged oil line, sending James back to competition. "I'd like to thank Johnny Davis, Lori Morgan and the whole Johnny Davis Racing organization" said Hylton "They provided me with an excellent car and I am quite grateful."
