DENNY HAMLIN KICKS OFF 2008 SEASON WITH BRAUN RACING
* Denny Hamlin will make his Braun Racing debut at Daytona International Speedway. With permission from Joe Gibbs Racing, Hamlin will drive nine races for owner Todd Braun in the 2008 season beginning with the season opener. Hass Avocados from Mexico will sponsor Hamlin at Daytona and six other events this year. Hamlin will also carry sponsorship from Dollar General in two additional races, the first of which will be Bristol Motor Speedway in August.
* The Camping World 300 will mark Hamlin's sixth start at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). He's captured four top-15 starts and three top-15 finishes in five previous events. Hamlin has completed 99.6 percent of laps possible at DIS, including 12 laps led.
Hamlin looking forward to joining the Braun Racing driver line-up
"I'm really excited about my first race with Braun Racing. With the help of Toyota last year, Braun really stepped up their game and I remember racing pretty hard against those guys last year. This year, I'll get to see for myself how good they are. I want to thanks Joe Gibbs Racing for giving me this opportunity. Now we are all a part of the Toyota Racing family and I hope to get to Victory Lane with both teams this year."
Hamlin on Racing at Daytona
"Restrictor place racing is both exciting and mentally exhausting. I've never had as much luck at Daytona as I've wanted to but maybe this year we'll turn that around. I didn't test this car but Tony Raines did and I think he really helped get the car where it needs to be. In practice I'll just be feeling it out and getting it how I like it and we'll see what happens in the race. I'm looking forward to using my two teammates, Brian Vickers and Jason Leffler to help get me to the front. I hope it's the three of us battling it out at the end!"
The No. 32 Hass Avocados from Mexico team will compete with chassis 32 in this weekend's Camping World 300. This is the same chassis Brian Vickers raced at Daytona International Speedway in July 2007 where he started 12th and finished 13th.
